Roadrunner Baseball Earns No. 3 Seed, Will Face No. 6 Middlesex in Region XIX Playoffs

The Roadrunner baseball team has been selected as the No. 3 overall seed in the upcoming Region XIX Baseball tournament, which begins this weekend.

The Runners will host No. 6 seed Middlesex in a best of three series starting Saturday, May 11 with Game 1 at 12 noon. The series winner will advance to meet the winner of the series between No. 2 Northampton and No. 7 Bergen.

The top overall seed is Cumberland County College, which will play the winner of No. 8 Ocean vs. No. 9 Montgomery. In other action this weekend, No. 4 Brookdale will meet No. 5 Camden County College.

The Region XIX Final Four Tournament will be held the weekend of May 18-19.

Regular Season Wrap

The Roadrunners finished their regular season with a 34-9 overall record following a 6-0 victory over host Ocean County College on Tuesday, May 7th. Designated hitter Ryan Murphy smashed a two-run home run while teammate Jose Correa also added a solo blast.

Sophomore Nick Yoder emerged as the winning pitcher, striking out four batters in 2 2/3 innings. Also turning in quality mound appearances were sophomores Nick Evangelista and Jose Ledesma along with freshman Matt Stil.

In the completion of a suspended game from April 29, the Roadrunners toppled Ocean County by a 15-6 final score. Alex Gattinelli cracked two home runs and knocked in six runs to lead the way while Jack Billings collected two doubles and two RBIS.
