GAME DAY: Roadrunner Hitters Erupt to Defeat  Rowan Burlington -- Photo Highlights

Second baseman Tommy Gibson and rightfielder Shawn Dougherty drove in three runs apiece while catcher Cole Chesnet collected four hits as the Roadrunner baseball team turned back Rowan Burlington 12-3 in a home game Wednesday afternoon.

The Runners, now 5-1 on the season, fell behind 2-0 early, but erupted for 4 runs in the third, three in the fourth and four in the sixth to seal the triumph.

Winning pitcher Edinson Sanchez allowed one hit and struck out six batters in five innings of work. Freshman Jacob Addis also turned in four solid innings of relief work to earn his first save of the 2020 season.

Next up for the Runners is a 3 pm contest vs. Camden County College at home in a 3 pm start Thursday, March 12.

GAME DAY PREVIEW

 

The Roadrunners will host one of their toughest opponents of the season when Rowan College Burlington pays a visit Wednesday afternoon in a 3:00 pm start.

Coach Rob Valli's team is off to a solid 4-1 overall start with their only loss to D-II Mercer. The D-II Barons enter the contest with a 5-5 record against several tough programs this spring.
