GAME DAY; Roadrunner Baseball Rolls to 12 Wins in a Row Following Sweep of Union CC

With each passing game in the early portion of the 2021 season, there is little question that the Roadrunner baseball team has emerged as one of the best among NJCAA Division III contenders.

Coach Rob Valli's Runners proved to be in top form once again Saturday, sweeping visiting Union County College easily by scores of 27-4 and 18-3 on a nice spring afternoon.

The wins improved RCSJ's overall record to 13-1-1 and extended the Runners' win streak to 12 following an uncharacteristically slow 1-1-1 start.

Centerfielder Eric Sabato cracked a home run and drove in five runs to lead the offensive assault in Game 1. Also helping out offensively were Sam Daggers, Dauri Genao, Liam Anderson and Jose Correa, all with three RBIs apiece.

Sophomore Rich Racobaldo emerged as the Game 1 winning pitcher, allowing two hits and no runs in four innings of work.

The onslaught continued in Game 2 in an 18-3 triumph. Sophomore DH Jack Billings blasted two home runs and collected three RBIs while teammates Nick Nocella and Isaias Marte also slammed home runs.

Next up for the Runners, No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III National Rankings, will be top-10 rival Brookdale, No. 10 in the D-III rankings. The two teams will square off at Brookdale on Wednesday, March 31, in a 3:30 start, and will meet again at RCSJ on Friday, April 2 in a 1 pm start.
