Roadrunner Softball Coach Steve DePasquale is ready. So are his players.
While his team have withstood several major challenges this season, DePasquale knows his club will need to take it up several notches when they play Division I Harford CC in a doubleheader Friday followed by a twinbill Saturday against No. 4 nationally ranked Brookdale.
They will host both sets of game in what DePasquale knows will be an electric atmosphere.
"This is exciting and ranks as one of our toughest stretches this season," the veteran coach said. "This is what it's all about."
The No. 5 nationally ranked Runners enter the weekend with a solid 22-8 overall record, having won 11 of their previous 12 games. Harford checks in at 18-12 against an ultra-tough DI schedule while GSAC and Region 19 rival Brookdale enters with a 25-7 overall mark.
The Roadrunners have benefitted recently from solid pitching by top hurler Emily Childs and have received solid overall efforts from outfielders Rylee Shappell and Grace Gallagher, first baseman Nayelis Sanchez, infielder Grace Huber, and designated player Sienna Walterson.
The No. 1 ranked Roadrunner Baseball team will face a similar challenge when they square off against No. 5 Brookdale in a three-game set starting Friday on the road in a 1 pm start followed by a doubleheader at home Saturday starting at 12 noon.
Coach Rob Valli's Runners have compiled an impressive 32-3 overall record against one of the nation's toughest JUCO schedules. The Jersey Blues check in at 25-7 and pose as perhaps the top challenge to RCSJ in both the Region 19 and GSAC standings.
The Runners have received top performances from regulars RJ Mustaro, Kyle McSorley. Gabriel Reyes, Matt Brunner, Luca Reyes, Joe Maier, and Gavin West among others.
If you can't make the trip to the Deptford fields this weekend, all home games will be live streamed at rcroadrunners.com/watch-live.
