GAME DAY: Roadrunner Bats Come Alive in Sweep of Mercer CCC

GAME DAY: Roadrunner Bats Come Alive in Sweep of Mercer CCC

After seeing a 15-game win streak recently snapped, the Roadrunner Baseball team has quietly started a new run. And their bats continue to batter opposing pitching in the process.

With Saturday's sweep of visiting Mercer County Community College by scores of 13-6 and 14-3, RCSJ extended their new win streak to three games.

Sean Szetowicki cracked a home run and knocked in three runs while teammates Nick Nocella, Cole Chesnet. Eric Sabato and Jose Correa added two RBIs each as the Runners emerged victorious in Game 1. Tom Kane earned the win to raise his record to 2-0 while Joe Marino registered the save.

In Game 2, Dauri Genao and Nocella smashed home runs with Genao driving in three runs as the Runners coasted to the win and the sweep. Winning pitcher Chris Widger hurled five innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win and improve his record to 4-0.

The Roadrunners face visiting Brookdale -- the team that recently snapped their 15-game win streak -- on Sunday afternoon in a 12 noon start, weather permitting.
