#NJCAAForward Initiative: Spotlight on Roadrunners Men's Soccer Freshman Sean Tyler

As part of the #NJCAAForward initiative, Roadrunner Athletics is proud to highlight many of our top student athletes. In this post, we highlight the Defensive Back of the Men's Soccer team, Sean Tyler. In the 2019 season, the freshman defensive back was a big help for the Roadrunners success for the 2019 season. Being on the defensive side of the game is where Tyler's skills stood out. Intercepting through balls, disrupting overhead passes or showing his physical presence in the box. Sean Tyler discusses the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic and how he is keeping up with his school work and what his plans are for the future!

What made you choose to come to RCSJ?

  • I had a decision between RCSJ or CCC, and I chose RCSJ because of the great business program they have and I loved the campus everything is close you don't have to walk too far to get to your classes. The soccer program is usually very good that is also why I chose RCSJ.

What has been your favorite part about being a student-athlete in our program?

  • I would say my favorite part about being a student athlete is the traveling to games it's always a great bonding experience between all the teammates, the energy is always high, it's just a good time.

What are some things you are doing to stay on top of your classes?

  • To stay on top of my work I plan my day out the night before and then I wake up at 6am eat and then getting right to work so that I can get that part of the day out of the way, then I go and train playing soccer.

Who has had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at RCSJ-Gloucester?

  • I would say my biggest influence is my parents because I know they want the best for me and the best out of me so I train like my life depends on it. They are helping me pay off college right now so I feel like the most I can do is play hard and get good grades so they will be proud of me.

What is your plan for next year?

  • I plan on trying to get recruited to finish out my two years of college playing soccer, but if I can't then I will go to Rutgers Camden and continue with my personal training job, and finish out college to get my business degree.
