#NJCAAForward Initiative: Spotlight on Roadrunners Men's Soccer Sophomore AJ Macklin

As part of the #NJCAAForward initiative, Roadrunner Athletics is proud to highlight many of our top student athletes. In this post, we highlight the Midfielder and Defensive Back of the Men's Soccer team, AJ Macklin In the 2019 season, the sophomore was a big help for the Roadrunners success for the 2019 season, adding two goals, two assists and totaling 6 points for the season. Macklin was a key factor in the midfield on the offense and defense side. In this post, Macklin discusses the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic and how he is keeping up with his school work and what his plans are for the future!

What made you choose to come to RCSJ? 

  • When I came for a visit Coach Hobbins really sold RCSJ to me.

What has been your favorite part about being a student-athlete in our program?

  • All the friends who are just as close as family

What are some things you are doing to stay on top of your classes? 

  • Setting a schedule and sticking to it. Do not be afraid to take breaks and let your mind rest 

Who has had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at RCSJ-Gloucester? 

  • Mr Hobbins for sure. From the moment I got there he told me I would have to work for everything I wanted and he pushed me to be a better me.

What is your plan for next year? 

  • Next year I will be attending Rutgers Camden and will also be playing lacrosse for them.
