Freshman Joe Romano tallied the game-winning goal with an assist from sophomore Mike Rizzo as the Runners won their third straight with a 1-0 triumph at Mercer CCC on Thursday. Romano's score came about 8 minutes into the first half, and his teammates were able to make the 1-0 lead stand up the rest of the way.
Sophomore Gunner Hoffman earned the shutout, stopping all seven shots on goal, including two game-savers as the first half came to a close.
"Gunner (Hoffman) was amazing and just kept us in it the whole way against a very good opponent," said Coach George Hobbins. "We knew it would be a tough game -- and they outplayed us in some areas, but we played smarter and came out of it with the win."
Runners now have a solid 7-2 overall record.
