NCAA Region XIX Championships: Roadrunners Look to Be Among Team Leaders

The RCGC Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will compete in the NJCAA Region XIX Championship Meets on Saturday, October 26, at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, DE.

The Men's team will race first starting at 11:00 am followed by the Women's race at 12:00 noon. All- Region awards are earned by the top 7 individual winners in each race. The course is loaded with trails winding up and down hills.

"We're beginning to peak at the right time, and we expect to be very competitive in the men's race," said head coach Ryan Hughes.

Roadrunner men's and women's cross country teams recently competed in the Inter-Regional Border Battle, hosted by Rowan University at Gloucester County Dream Park in Logan Township. In the men's race. sophomore Noah Cziryak was the Runners' top finisher in 27th place in 27:12.18 followed by teammates Christion Anigilaje in 101st place and Benjamin Kellum in 117th place.

"I was able to get my personal best on this course," said Cziryak, who trimmed 3 minutes off his time in last season's meet at GC Dream Park. "As a team we've shown a lot of improvement too."
In the women's race, Jeanine Morrow was the top finisher in 55th place with a time of 26:57.4 followed by Amanda Aydelotte in 111th place and Kaitlynn Hewitt in 116th place.

"It was a nice day for the race and we all ran some of our best times," said Hewitt following the women's race. "We feel we're ready for the postseason."
