The Roadrunner Women's Basketball team closed out a successful 2024-25 regular season by routing visiting Lehigh Carbon CC, 86-36, Monday night on sophomore night -- and now guard Anna Dipiero has expressed confidence her team will be well-prepped for the upcoming Region 19 playoffs.
Dipiero, a freshman out of Camden Catholic High School, held the hot hand through much of the first half Monday by nailing five early 3-point baskets and six total on her way to a 20-point performance in helping the Runners finish the regular campaign with an impressive 22-5 record. Teammate Jermyra Bethea also scored in twin figures with 17 points in a tune-up for the postseason.
The Runners will soon learn their seeding and first-round opponent for the Region 19 tournament. Coach Rich Cooper's team is the defending regional champion with high hopes of returning to the NJCAA Division III National Championships in early March.
"We're ready for the playoffs although we know it won't be easy," said Dipiero, who has averaged a solid 10 points and 3.5 steals and 3.5 assists per game this winter. "We will do well as long as execute our game plan."
DiPiero was left open on a series of corner shots, connecting on five straight 3-point jumpers and a 2-point basket for 17 first-quarter points to give RCSJ a commanding 47-16 halftime lead. Bethea controlled the offensive boards while converting second-chance opportunities in finishing with her 17 points.
"I was open and luckily I had my shot going," said Dipiero about her first-quarter contributions
The Runners also controlled the second half, outscoring the Cougars 39-20 in securing the easy triumph.
The Region seedings will be released this week with Montgomery CC, Camden CC and the Runners expected to earn the top three seeds. Watch for the tournament brackets and seedings in a future post.
