One Step Away! Roadrunner Baseball Disposes of Dallas College Richland to Close in on DIII National Title Repeat!

The Roadrunner Baseball team is closing in on a second straight NJCAA Baseball World Series Division III National Championship.

The No. 1 seed Roadrunners cruised to an 8-2 triumph over No. 2 Dallas College Richland Monday night in a national semifinal following a marathon lightning/rain delay at Falcon Park in Auburn, NY.

Sophomore lefty Thomas Goldberg was brilliant on the mound, hurling 8 innings, striking out 14 and scattering 3 hits.

Freshman Max D'Alessandro, meanwhile, stayed hot at the plate, blasting bis 19th home run of the season while teammates Juan Peralta and Caden Dulin each had three hits. Wyatt Hoffman and Gavin Degnan also added two hits apiece.

The Runners will now play in the DIII World Series championship on Wednesday, May 29th in a 7 pm start, with the opponent to be determined.

A win will give the Runners a second straight national crown.Coach Rob Valli's team improved to 50-8 overall while Dallas Richland dropped to 42-19 overall.

The Runners fell behind 2-0 in the first inning thanks to a wild pitch and an RBI groundout from the Thunderducks' Trey Smith. But RCSJ bonced back in the bottom of the frame to tie it at 2-2 before adding two in the third and four more in the fourth inning to seal the outcome. Dulin went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Peralta doubled twice in a three-hit day. Degnan was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Wyatt Hoffman was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
