The RCGC men's soccer team snapped out of an early season offensive slump in a huge way Tuesday afternoon!

The Roadrunners won their first game of the young season with an easy 7-0 triumph over visiting Delaware County CC in Region XIX action. Zach Piro (Hammonton) led a balanced RCGC offensive effort with two goals as the host team raced to a 6-0 halftime lead to put the game away early.

Other goal scorers included Robert Andrews (Vineland), Paolo D'Alessandro (Deptford), Dylan Skidmore (Glassboro), Matthew McHale (Cape May Tech), and Trey Parker (Woodstown).

The Runners, who improved to 1-3 overall, had netted just one goal in their first three games.

"We have a couple things to cleanup, but overall we had good moral support – everyone really picked each other up," said Piro.

Head coach George Hobbins hopes the team's first win might be the start of a turnaround.

"It was great to see because Delco worked hard the whole game -- they never gave up," said Hobbins. "We really had to battle to get our goals today. We had some guys struggling but they stepped up to put some goals in the back of the net today."

The Roadrunners face a big test this weekend when they host Bergen CC in a 2 pm contest.
