A short two-game homestand proved to be just what the Roadrunner Men's Soccer team needed. Coach George Hobbins' team erupted for five second-half goals in a 5-0 win over visiting GSAC rival Salem Community College Tuesday, the second straight for the Runners.
Following a scoreless first half, the Runners scored a team goal with Fred Renzulli credited with an assist for a 1-0 lead at 66 minutes. Teammates Juan Gallardo, Owen Strohm, Kysen West and Jerry Green then added goals with Renzulli grabbing two more assists as the Runners improved to 3-2 overall.
After dropping two of their first three games, Hobbins' team won two straight at home, including last weekend's win over County College of Morris.
Joe Lomas, a freshman out of Sterling, earned the shutout at goalkeeper, registering four saves. Up next is a road match Thursday at Union College in a 4 pm start.
