Harris-Hood Returns to Lineup as Roadrunners Top Camden CC for Fourth Straight Win

Harris-Hood Returns to Lineup as Roadrunners Top Camden CC for Fourth Straight Win

The Roadrunners women's basketball lineup may have just gotten stronger than ever. That was evident during Thursday afternoon's 78-53 Garden State Athletic Conference victory over visiting Camden County College, the fourth win a row for Coach Rich Cooper's squad and pushing the team's record to an impressive 7-3 overall on the season.

While guards Kyler Coughlin (Gloucester, 13 points) and Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City, 13 points) made their usual offensive contributions, the Runners also received a quiet, but effective performance from forward Kadina Harris-Hood (Atlantic City).

In her return from an early season injury. forward Harris-Hood dropped in 9 points and pulled down four rebounds, marking a successful comeback in her first game since early November.

"We're healthy, and that's huge for any team's success," said head coach Rich Cooper. "Having Kadina (Harris-Hood) return definitely provides us another weapon and some depth in our lineup. She will be an even bigger contributor once she's played a few games."

Harris-Hood did indeed lend plenty of balance to an already solid lineup. All 10 players who entered the contest scored, including 8 from forward Trina Deveney-Bethea (Holy Spirit), and 6 each from Nikita Ackker (Triton), Syria Bass, Mya Lewis (Cherry Hill West) and De'Ania Davenport-White (Salem).

The Runners controlled the outcome most of the way, taking leads of 23-13 after the first quarter and 36-26 at halftime. Coughlin led the way, netting 10 of her 14 in the first half.

The host team blew it open in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 26-11 for s 62-37 advantage.

Next up for the Runners will be the Roadrunner Classic Saturday, with a 12 noon start against Rowan-Burlington.
