On to Nationals! Clark, Wyatt Lead Roadrunner Women's Basketball to Region Title over Camden CC!

In an electric atmosphere featuring a sold-out crowd and a Region 19 championship at stake, the Roadrunner Women's Basketball team knew they were faced with their biggest challenge of the 2024 season.

A loss would end their glorious season. A win would allow them to qualify for a berth in the NJCAA Division III national championship tournament

No one backed down from the challenge.

The result was a convincing 72-59 triumph over Camden County College in the Region 19 championship game, earning the Roadrunners their second national championship playoff berth in three years.
Leading the way was tournament MVP Jonaysia Clark, who pumped in 16 points, hitting key baskets and playing rock solid defense to keep the Runners in charge throughout the second half.

Also pulling through with a huge effort was freshman forward Tireya Wyatt, who scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half to allow the Runners to build a 14-point advantage and eventually pull away with the win.

The Runners fell behind early, 11-4, but clawed back to build a 31-26 halftime lead. They never looked back in the second half.

"I'm just so proud of these ladies and the resiliency they showed today," said Coach Rich Cooper. "We've come a long way since the opening weekend, and it's amazing that we're returning to nationals after missing the tournament last year."

Also scoring in double figures were forward Maxine Ampofo, who led all scorers with 17 points, and guard Faith Rosa, who added a timely 11 points.
The Runners extended their win streak to 21 straight games and now own a 21-2 overall record heading into the NJCAA DIII National Tournament.

"We're so excited to qualify for nationals, and we're ready to take the next step," said Clark.
