No. 10 Roadrunner Women's Basketball Falls to No. 7 Jefferson CC in DIII National Tournament Opening Round Game

The Roadrunner Women's Basketball team could not find a comfortable shooting touch in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Championship Tournament, and RCSJ fell 64-45 to Jefferson Community College Wednesday at Rochester (MN) Regional Sports Center.

Sophomore guard Jonaysia Clark led the Runners with 20 points while teammate Maxine Ampofo pulled down a team high 11 rebounds to lead the No. 10 seed Roadrunners.

But Coach Rich Cooper's team fell behind No. 7 seed Jefferson, 14-10, after one period, and there were outgunned 25-9 in a rough second quarter and could not recover.

The winners were led by sophomore Kori Nichols, who pumped in 20 points.

The Runners, who saw a 21-game win streak snapped and who now own a 21-3 record, will play a consolation game Thursday against No. 11 Monroe College-Bronx in a 1 pm tipoff before returning home to New Jersey.
