GAME DAY: Roadrunner Women's Basketball Rolls Past Brookdale CC

Sophomore forward Nikita Acker (Triton) scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures and lift the Roadrunner women's basketball team to an 80-38 triumph over visiting Brookdale in Garden State Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

The win was the fifth in the last six games for Coach Rich Cooper's team, which improved to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the GSAC.

Also scoring in twin figures for the Runners were forward Trina Deveney-Bethea (Cedar Creek), who had 12, and Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City) and Kylar Coughlan (Gloucester), who had 10 apiece. Canty and Deveney-Bethey took care of business on the boards, combining for 22 rebounds.

The Roadrunners raced out to a 19-4 first quarter lead before extending the lead to 36-12 at halftime. They bounced back to record the win following a loss to Rowan-Burlington in the Roadrunner Showcase on December 7th.

"This was the best passing game we've had as a team," said Cooper, who recorded his 94th career victory. We were looking for each other on offense and we were able to spread out the scoring. It's hard to beat us playing like this."

Sophomore guard Mya Lewis (Cherry Hill West) also added eight points to the offense.

Next up for the Roadrunners will be a home contest vs. Middlesex County College in a 5 pm start.
