Roadrunner Women's Basketball Rolls Past Camden CC in Season Opener!

Roadrunner women's basketball rolled to a 92-58 win over visiting Camden County College in Thursday night's spring season opener. Guard Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City) paved the way with 28 points with freshman Danielle Jeffreys (Williamstown) adding 24.

Canty, an All-Region XIX guard a year ago, was glad to be back in action following a year of limited practices and the cancelation of the winter season due to the pandemic.

"This feels so good to be here with my teammates and to be playing in a game again," she said. "It was exciting to be with my teammates from last year and in the same lineup with some really talented freshmen."

Jeffreys, who helped Williamstown to an NJSIAA playoff run last season, saw her first action on the college level.

"This is a much faster game than high school, so I'll need to adjust to it," she said. "We had a great start after being off for so long and hopefully we will continue to see improvement."

Other top scorers for the Roadrunners included sophomore forward Trina Deveney-Bethea (Cedar Creek), who scored 12 points, and sophomore guard Syria Bass (Holy Spirit), who netted 11.

The Runners will travel to Camden County College for a road game on Saturday in a 1 pm start.
