Gameday Preview

Coach Rich Cooper and his Roadrunner Women's Basketball team are off to perhaps the best start in program history at 6-0, and it's a pace that is being recognized nationally and regionally.

After a week off, the Runners hope to keep their record unblemished when they travel to Camden County College in Blackwood for a game against the Cougars.

Cooper hopes the week off doesn't hurt his team's performance against a tough Camden CC squad, which enters the game at 4-3 overall and 4-1 in the Garden State Athletic Conference.

"We'll need to shake off the rust as soon as we can," said Cooper. "Camden County has a competitive team and we can't take this game lightly."

The Roadrunners have found a spot in the NJCAA Division III National Rankings the past three weeks, jumping up to the No. 6 spot when the rankings were released on Monday. Among their wins this season was an exciting come-from-behind win over No. 12 ranked Prince George's Community College (MD) in November on the road. They also grabbed wins against Division II Mercer County CC and Delaware Tech along with a tough road win at Passaic County CC.

"It's absolutely great to be recognized and we feel we deserve the recognition -- but now we need to maintain our focus one game at a time since we have a tough schedule ahead of us," noted Cooper.
Sophomore guard Qeiajae Canty, a team leader throughout her tenure under Cooper, agrees.

"You still need to play at your highest level, no matter what -- and I know this team is always ready," commented Canty. "It's great to be unbeaten and nationally ranked, but none of that matters when we take the court for our next game."

Following tonight's contest, the Runners will host Middlesex County College in a 12 noon start on Saturday, Dec. 11.
