Nationally Ranked Roadrunner Women's Basketball Earns Top Seed and Bye in Region 19 D-III Playoffs

Following a dominant regular season, the Roadrunner Women's Basketball team hopes to continue their success in the upcoming Region 19 Division III playoffs as the tournament's No. 1 seed.

RCSJ has earned an opening round bye and will play the winner of Saturday's No. 4 Camden County College vs. No. 5 Passaic matchup early next week. The No. 3 nationally-ranked Roadrunners completed a perfect season in Region 19, finishing 14-0 in Region play and 22-2 overall.

Head Coach Rich Cooper knows his team must be ready for tough competition in the postseason.

"Nothing is handed to you in the playoffs, and we believe we're ready for the challenge," said Cooper, whose program hopes to win their first Region title since 2018.

The Runners finished the regular season on fire with 9 straight victories, including impressive wins over nationally ranked Monroe-College Bronx and Region 19 rival Brookdale.

Several players stepped up toward the end of the regular season, including sophomore standouts Qeiajae Canty and Trina Deveney-Bethea along with freshman forward Danielle Jeffreys. All three have averaged in double figures this season.

The lineup is also bolstered by the fine play of guards Julianna Montero, Syria Bass, and Nyasia Clark along with forwards Riley Starke and Rianna Talley.
