No. 1 Seed Roadrunners Race Past No. 4 Camden CC in Region 19 Semis to Advance to Title Game

The top-seed Roadrunner Women's Basketball team advanced to the Region 19 finals with an 85-69 win over No. 4 Camden County College Wednesday. Guard Qeiajae Canty led all scorers with 17 points while teammates Trina Deveney-Bethea (13), Nyasia Clark (13), Julianna Montero (13). Danielle Jeffreys (12) and Syria Bass (11) all scored in double figures for the winners.

The Runners raced to a 39-28 lead at halftime as Deveney-Bethea scored all 13 of her points to lead the effort. The Runners watched an ll-point lead evaporate in the first half as Camden CC tied the game at 24-24. Coach Rich Cooper's team then responded with a 12-0 run to regain the upper hand for good.

"We had been off for a few days, so we felt some nervous energy coming into the game," said Deveney-Bethea. "But it was great to see the way we responded -- everyone contributed, and we were able to pull it altogether."

The Runners will meet Brookdale CC in the Region 19 championship on Saturday, Feb. 26th. The Jersey Blues knocked off Northampton, 73-68 in the other Region 19 semifinal to advance to the championship round.
