Roadrunner Women's Basketball Falls Short in Loss to Community College of Philadelphia

Roadrunner Women's Basketball Falls Short in Loss to Community College of Philadelphia

Throughout most of Thursday night's contest vs. Community College of Philadelphia, the Roadrunner Women's Basketball team set the pace and appeared ready to win their fourth straight game.

But it wasn't enough. The visiting Lions hung around throughout the contest, overcoming deficits of 8 and 10 points in the second half to steal an 80-76 triumph.

RCSJ sophomore forward Danielle Jeffreys dominated the offensive landscape with 28 points, but even some late-game heroics were not enough to prevent the loss. The Runners missed late field goal attempts as well as foul shots, allowing the visitors to escape with a road win.

Coach Rich Cooper's Roadrunners held a slim 34-33 lead at halftime, but built up a larger lead to start the second half. But the Lions roared back to creep to within 1 point at the end of the third period before outscoring the home team 23-18 in the final quarter for the win.

CCP improved to 3-2 overall while the Runners dropped to 3-2 overall, snapping a three-game win streak.

Next up for the Runners will be a home game vs. Nassau County on Saturday, November 19th in a 1 pm start.
