Roadrunner Showcase: RCSJ Gloucester Topples Ocean CC for Title

It's all coming together for the RCSJ Gloucester Women's Basketball Team. Case in point proved to be Saturday's convincing 91-16 win over visiting Ocean County College to win the Roadrunner Showcase championship.

The triumph extended the nationally ranked Runners' record to 6-2, and was the third win in succession.

Coach Rich Cooper was able to use everyone from his roster to bring home the Showcase title, and several players performed admirably.

Tournament MVP Erica McDonnell played her best game of the season, scoring 10 points and solid defense to lead the way. Teammate Rianna Talley led all scorers with 18 points, Riley Starke (14 points), Nyasia Clark (13), and Naysha Suarez-Rivera (10) also scored in twin figures.

"I'm proud of everyone," said Cooper. "This is the type of game you can show some bad habits, but everyone played well and gave us a solid overall effort."

The Runners led from the outset, starting at 7-0 and extending the lead to 46-10 at halftime. They then outscored the Vikings 45-6 in the second half for the final of 91-16.

Next up for the Runners will be a road match at RCSJ Cumberland on Tuesday, Dec. 6th.
