Clark, Rosa Help Roadrunners Clinch GSAC Crown With Win Over Middlesex!

Roadrunner Women's Basketball Coach Rich Cooper knows the current 2022-23 season has been quite a challenge.

But in the end, his team, thanks to Saturday's 71-53 victory, emerged as this season's Garden State Athletic Conference champions.

Freshman guard Jonaysia Clark pumped in 17 points and guard Faith Rosa added 13 to spark the effort Saturday as the Runners led from start to finish to raise their overall record to 15-6 and conference mark to 11-3.

The conference crown was the second in a row for the defending Region 19 champion Runners, who hope to again qualify for this year's NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

"Our success took awhile to achieve, but we have had plenty of excellent contributions from both our returners and our newcomers," Cooper commented. "We hope we are starting to peak with the Region tournament right around the corner."

Sophomore forward Danielle Jeffreys, one of the team's top performers from last season, is ready for even more success.

"We're coming together as a team and we feel we can make a run in the playoffs," said Jeffreys.

Against the Colts, the Runners moved out to a quick 6-0 lead, expanding the advantage to 36-18 by halftime.

The Runners close out the regular season with a road game at Passaic County on Saturday, Feb. 18.
