Beecher Sparks Offense, Helps Roadrunner Women's Basketball Capture Roadrunner Showcase

The Roadrunner Women's Basketball team notched a crucial milestone on Saturday, winning the Roadrunner Showcase with a 94-32 triumph over visiting Ocean County College and in the process winning their third straight game.

The turnaround from the opening of the 2023-24 season, when they lost two straight to nationally ranked oppoents, has been remarkable.

In the triumph over Ocean, the outcome was never in doubt. Freshman forward Debra Beecher tallied 15 of her 22 points in the first half as the Runners cruised to a 43-14 halftime lead. RCSJ kept the momentum going in the second half as they outscored the Vikings by 51-18.

Beecher had plenty of support as teammates Destiny Hines and Jermyra Bethea contributed 15 points apiece while Tireya Wyatt added another 10.

"We're sharing the ball offensively, and our defense continues to ramp up the pressure," said Coach Rich Cooper. "This team is playing with a lot of confidence now, and we will only get better."

Next up for the Runners will be a road game at Camden County College on Dec. 7th in a 5 pm tipoff.
