No. 1 Seed Roadrunner Women's Basketball Faces Off vs. No. 4 Montgomery CC in Region 19 Playoffs

DEPTFORD, NJ -- It's official! The No. 1 seed Roadrunner Women's Basketball team will face off vs. No. 4 Montgomery in the Region 19 semifinal Thursday night starting at 6 pm in Deptford, NJ.

The Mustangs will rely on high-powered scorers Rachel Dunn, Aniya Boland and Tyanna Wall for offensive production,

The top-seed RCSJ team, coached by veteran Rich Cooper, roll into the contest with a 19-2 overall record, winning 19 straight following two losses to open the campaign. Ironically, they held off a late Montgomery CC rally in the final regular season game for a 53-46 win over the Mustangs -- so the teams have a recent history and know each other well.

Leading the way offensively for the Runners will be guards Destiny Hines, Faith Rosa and Jonaysia Clark, along with forwards Maxine Ampofo, Jermyra Bethea and Debra Beecher. Cooper's team also plays a traditionally solid defensive game, creating pressure, turnovers and chaos all over the court.

"We have a very confident but anxious team since we haven't played in more than a week," said Cooper. "Montgomery will be a tough test for us -- they play well together and gave us a big test to end the regular season."

The Mustangs advanced with a 60-51 win over Passaic Tuesday night. The winner of Thursday's semifinal match between the Runners and Mustangs will advance to the Region 19 championship round Saturday against an opponent to be determined.
