Men's Basketball Runners See Early Lead Disappear in Loss to Camden CC

Sophomore forward Stan Martin deposited 22 points while guards Danny Williams and Nick Sambour added nine apiece, but it wasn't enough as the Roadrunner men's basketball team fell to visiting Camden County College 72-55 Thursday night.

The Runners jumped out to a 30-23 lead, but saw the Cougars outscore them 49-25 in a blistering second half in dropping their sixth straight contest and to 2-9 overall.

Next up for the Runners will be a home contest against Williamson College of the Trades in 7 pm start in the first round of the Roadrunner Classic Friday night.

Game Preview

The Roadrunner men's basketball team will look to snap a four-game losing streak when they host familiar rival Camden County College in a 7:00 pm start Tuesday, December 5.

Offensively, the Runners have shown plenty of firepower, led by sophomore Stan Martin (Willingboro), who is averaging 14.1 points per game. Guard Danny Williams (Bridgeton) is enjoying a solid season, averaging 13.9 points per game. He is joined by guard Nick Sambour (Williamstown), who checks in with a 12.1 ppg and forward Tim Schultice (Timer Creek), who has collected 13.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

But despite a tough-luck start, the RCSJ squad remains upbeat about the second half of the 2019-20 campaign as the season moves forward.

"We know we can just as easily be 8-2 rather than 2-8," said head coach Will Logan, a first-year coach who has been preaching to his team members to stick with the program. "We've lost some close games, and we need to learn how to finish what we've started."
