Solid Defense Is Key Once Again as Roadrunner Men Roll Past Host Sussex CCC

When the Roadrunner Men's Basketball team rallied to stun Region 19 rival Camden County earlier in the week, they not only gained momentum but learned the importance of a strong defense.

That was evident on the road Saturday when the Runners rolled past Sussex County Community College, 67-46. The defense was crisp, helping the team to control the boards and and to dominate offensively.

Center Josh Randall was on fire, collecting 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. Teammate Eriq Campbell came up big once again with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals while guard Khayri Ransom added 13 points and 9 rebounds.

"We're starting to understand that we need to maintain a strong defensive presence," said Coach Rich Casey. "It's the only way we're going to be competitive against the teams we play in the second half.
"We were aggressive and kept the pressure up the entire game. It makes a difference against a very good team."

Sophomore guard Quantavious Rogers also directed the offense in a capable manner, dishing out 6 assists, grabbing 4 rebounds and recording 3 steals.

Next up for the Runners will be a visit to GSAC and Region 19 rival Brookdale, the No. 1 nationally ranked team, on January 26th. Tip off is 7 pm.
