Schultice, Martin Lead Effort as Runners Outlast Middlesex for Third Win: See Photo Highlights!

Finally, it all came together Tuesday night for the Roadrunner men's basketball team as they ended a lengthy winless streak by upsetting visiting Middlesex County College 63-57 in a Garden State Athletic Conference contest.

Forwards Tim Schultice (20 points) and Stan Martin (19 points) led a solid offensive effort to help the Roadrunners hold on for the triumph.

The win snapped an eight-game losing streak, one in which the Runners led several of those losses at halftime only to see them slip away.

The long-overdue triumph proved to be a coordinated effort, according to first-year coach Will Logan.

"We managed our offense much more efficiently tonight, and it made a difference," said Logan. "We cut down on our turnovers and we were able to convert key opportunities."

Aside from his solid offensive showing, Schultice, a former Timber Creek standout, also made a difference defensively and on the boards, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds.

"Tim had a monster game on defense," noted Logan. "He was pretty dominant tonight. Plus, all of our forwards -- Tim, Andrew (Speight) and Jeremy (Fleming) -- really contributed to the win."

The Runners used 13 points from Schultice and 8 from Martin during a tight first half in which they held a slim 29-28 halftime lead.

The home team held their own on the defensive front in the second half to preserve the win. Guard Nick Sambour came up big with four steals while Martin and Speight chipped in with 8 rebounds apiece.

The win improved RCSJ's overall record to 3-12 on the season and 3-7 in the conference. Next up will be a GSAC home game again st Bergen Community College in a 2 pm start on Saturday, December 21.
