Sophomore forward Stan Martin (Willingboro) pumped in 26 points while teammate Tim Schultice (Timber Creek) fired in 24, leading the Roadrunner men's basketball team to their second straight triumph, an 89-74 GSAC win over visiting Bergen Community College Saturday afternoon.
The Runners (4-12 overall, 4-7 conference) raced out to a 45-36 halftime lead.
Forward Andrw Speight (Newark East Side) chipped in with 15 points and guard Nick Sambour (Williamstown) added 12 to lead the RCSJ scoring attack.
Schultice and Speight also combined for 25 rebounds as the winners controlled the offensive and defensive boards. In addition, Sambour dished out 7 assists while guard Danny Williams (Bridgeton, Seaford High) registered a pair of steals.
Coach Will Logan's Runners will now be on winter break until Thursday, January 9, when they host Atlantic Cape Community College in a 7:00 pm start.
GAME PREVIEW
The Roadrunner men's basketball team will look to win their second straight contest when they host Bergen Community College in a 2:00 pm start Saturday, December 21.
Offensively, the Runners have shown plenty of firepower, led by sophomore Stan Martin (Willingboro), who is averaging 17.7 points per game. Guard Danny Williams (Bridgeton) is enjoying a solid season, averaging 13.4 points per game. He is joined by guard Nick Sambour (Williamstown), who checks in with a 10.5 ppg and forward Tim Schultice (Timer Creek), who has collected 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
The Runners topped visiting Middlesex County College 63-57 on Tuesday night. Forwards Tim Schultice (20 points) and Stan Martin (19 points) led a solid offensive effort to help the Roadrunners hold on for the triumph.
The win snapped an eight-game losing streak, one in which the Runners led several of those losses at halftime only to see them slip away.
