Roadrunner Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Split Games at Montgomery County CC

Balance again proved to be the key for the Roadrunner women's basketball team on Thursday night as they easily disposed of host Montgomery County Community College by a 72-37 count.

But the men's squad had no such luck, falling in Game 2 of the doubleheader by a 78-51 score.

Leading the way for RCSJ-Gloucester was freshman forward Trina Deveney-Bethea, whio deposited 21 points, followed by teammates Kylar Coughlin (13), Syria Bass (12) and Qeiajae Canty (11).

The Runners, who improved to 13-6 overall and 10-3 within Region XIX competition, raced out to a 39-12 halftime lead in a game where the outcome was settled early.

Next up for Coach Rich Cooper's Runners will be a home match against Garden State Athletic Conference rival Ocean County College in a 12 noon start on Saturday, January 25.

The Roadrunner men's team was not as fortunate, as the talented Mustangs walked away with a 78-51 victory in the nightcap.

Coach Will Logan's team, which entered the contest having won 6 of their previous 7 games, fell to 8-14 overall and 8-10 in the region. Montgomery improved to 16-4 overall and 12-3 within the region.

Forward Stan Martin led the way with 19 points followed by Alex Angeles with 11 points and Nick Sambour with 9.

The Roadrunners will host Ocean County College in a key GSAC battle Saturday in a 2:00 pm start.

The Roadrunner men's squad, coached by Will Logan, has won 6 of their last 7 games, including a key win over RCSJ-Cumberland at Rowan University on January 21. Coach Rich Cooper's women's squad enters their contest with a 12-6 overall record.
