GAME DAY: Acker, Canty Lead Women's Basketball Win at Middlesex County

The Roadrunner women's basketball team continued their impressive 2019-20 campaign as Nikita Acker (Triton) pumped in 23 points and guard Qeiajae Canty (Atlantic City) chipped in with 21 points to lead an 86-55 victory over host Middlesex County College Saturday afternoon.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Runners and the 101st career triumph for head coach Rich Cooper.

Guard Mya Lewis (Cherry Hill West) also hit double figures with 10 points.

The outcome was never in doubt as RCSJ Gloucester rolled to a 23-10 first quarter lead and extended the margin to 43-22 at halftime. The Runners improved to 16-6 overall and 11-3 in the conference.

In men's action, the Runners suffered a 75-68 loss to the Blue Colts, the fourth defeat in a row for Coach Will Logan's team.

Sophomore guard Alex Angeles led all scorers with 26 points while guard Danny Williams added 18.

The Roadrunners were behind by only a 37-34 count at halftime, but could not muster enough offense in the second half to claim the win.
