Roadrunner Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short in Loss to Host Ocean CC

The Roadrunner Men's and Women's Basketball teams earned a split on the road vs. Ocean County College in action earlier this week.

In the Women's contest, freshman forward Deborah Beecher led a balanced scoring attack with 19 points while guard Jonaysia Clark pumped in 16 points as the Runners rolled to a 90-18 triumph. Jermyra Bethea (12 points). Tireya Wyatt (10) and Destiny Hines (10) also scored in twin figures for Coach Rich Cooper's team.

The win was the 10th straight for RCSJ as the Runners improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the Garden State Athletic Conference.

Next up for the Runners will be a home game vs. Brookdale on Saturday, January 27th in a 12 noon start.

In Men's action, the Runners battled hard but fell to the host Vikings, 77-68, in the nightcap. Ocean County raced to a 42-26 first half lead and held off the Runners' rally in the second half in which they narrowed the deficit to under 10 points.

Runners' guard Nathaniel Taylor paced the visitors with 20 points while teammates Sam Sanford, Tajir Clark and Chris Racobaldo scored 11 points apiece.

The Runners dropped to 7-9 overall and next face Delaware County CC on the road this Saturday in a 2 pm tipoff.
